How do I get a used car loan if I have bad credit and no income proof?

Q) My girlfriend put the down payment on a new car for me in 2006. Since then, I've been making all the payments and taking care of the upkeep on the car. We have since broken up and we would like to get the car out of her name and into mine. There is about $9,300 left to pay off the car. I am attempting to apply for an auto loan to pay off Toyota Financial Services for the remainder. However, I have been getting paid under the table at my job for the last three years, so I cannot document my income. Also, I have piss poor credit (hence the need to put the car in her name from the start). Does anyone have any idea how I can get such a loan? Any leads on specific companies would be very much appreciated.

A) No one would give you that. If you have a credit card, you could try a cash advance. Or try prosper.com and explain your issues. But you're probably out of luck (even those used car dealerships that usually give loans to everyone, wouldn't give one to you...since you're not buying a car from them). You could try going through one of those dealerships though (she sells them the car and you buy it, right on the spot). See if they'll work with you that way?
